Cultural agenda: Chanel at the Palais Galliera
Paris is one of the world's fashion capitals. Millions of tourists come to Paris to visit the boutiques of the big brands on the Avenue Montaigne or the Champs-Élysées. The Hotel Eiffel Blomet welcomes you in the serene surroundings of the 15th arrondissement of Paris. During your autumn stay, you can rediscover one of the icons of haute couture through a special exhibition at the Palais Galliera entitled Gabrielle Chanel: Fashion Manifesto.
A reopening with great fanfare
The Palais Galliera is the Fashion Museum of the City of Paris. After extensive renovations, the museum has chosen to launch its new era with the first retrospective in France devoted to one of the most influential designers in the history of fashion. The new galleries of the Palais Galliera - which has gained 670 square metres of exhibition space - have been turned over to the life and work of Gabrielle ‘Coco’ Chanel. The museum now also boasts a boutique bookstore, a seasonal café and an education space.
A chronological and thematic exhibition
The exhibition Gabrielle Chanel: Fashion Manifesto runs from October 1st, 2020 to March 14th, 2021. Its first part traces the beginnings of ‘Coco’ Chanel, from Deauville to Paris, and from the iconic marinière sailor top to the classic N°5 fragrance created by Ernest Beaux. A series of 10 photographic portraits of Gabrielle Chanel illustrate this progression. The exhibition is also thematic, with an emphasis on deciphering the Chanel dress codes. Some 350 pieces from the Galliera and several other prestigious museum collections await you in this temple of fashion.
