A history of fashion at the Palais Galliera
The Palais Galliera, the fashion history museum of the City of Paris, is celebrating its opening year with the creation of an exceptionally rich exhibition, soberly entitled A History of Fashion: Collecting and Exhibiting at the Palais Galliera. Intertwined stories
About twenty minutes by public transport from your Hotel Eiffel Blomet, the Palais Galliera invites you to follow a chronological and thematic route retracing the major trends in fashion from the 18th century to today. This route runs in parallel with a reflection on the development of the Palais Galliera collection and the evolution of the museography of clothing.
Richness and diversity
No fewer than 350 pieces will be exhibited between October 2nd, 2021, and June 26th, 2022, ranging from the sumptuous dresses of the Countess Greffulhe to current avant-garde creations. For the sake of preventive conservation, these exhibits will be renewed during the spring, without any change to the subject. If you have visited it before, you will be able to come back and discover different dresses and accessories, thanks to the astonishing richness and depth of the Palais Galliera collections.
One of the newest Parisian museums, the Palais Galliera has quickly established an excellent reputation. Not only is the Beaux-Arts style and Renaissance-inspired Palais Galliera a thing of wonder and beauty, but its remarkably presented collections offer a fascinating reflection on the place of clothing in society.
